Ode to Devi Kali by Avdhut

Ode to Devi Kali

In the heart of the night, where shadows are deep,

Awakens Devi Kali from her timeless sleep.

With eyes like black fire and a gaze so intense,

She dances through realms, breaking all pretense.

Her hair flows wild, like the stormy night skies,

A fierce, mighty goddess with wisdom in her eyes.

In her hand, she holds the sword of pure light,

To sever the bonds, to banish the night.

Around her neck, a garland of skulls,

Each one is a story of the ego's downfall.

Her laughter echoes through valleys and peaks,

A call to the souls whom freedom she seeks.

From the ashes of sorrow, she brings forth new birth,

Her dance is destruction, yet it nurtures the earth.

With each step she takes, illusions shatter,

Revealing the truth in the heart of the matter.

In her form so fierce, there lies deep compassion,

For she destroys only to bring liberation.

A mother to all, in her terrifying grace,

She shows us the light in the darkest of places.

Oh, Devi Kali, the fearless and bold,

Your legends and stories through the ages are told.

In the face of your fury, we find our strength,

In your boundless love, we find peace at length.

For in your destruction lies the seed of creation,

A cycle eternal, the heart's revelation.

You teach us to face our deepest fears,

To rise from the ashes, to wipe away tears.

So we bow to you, Kali, with reverence and awe,

To the fierce Divine Mother, with love, we draw.

In your dance of destruction, we find our true way,

To the light of the dawn from the dark of the day.
